Tri-County Transit Expands Service Hours for Medicaid Transportation.

June 21, 2016

Tri-County Transit  expands services within their service areas to accommodate weekend and evening transportation for NH Medicaid members in Coos, northern Grafton, and Carroll Counties. With the expansion of Medicaid in NH there has been a noticeable increase in the demand for transportation to medical appointments and pharmacies. As a contracted provider for the NH Medicaid Transportation broker Coordinated Transportation Service (CTS), Tri-County Transit provides rides both locally and for long distance for medical appointments to facilities such as Dartmouth Hitchcock, Catholic Medical Center, Maine Medical Center, etc.

Qualifying Medicaid members first need to contact their insurance provider with their trip information. The insurance provider will then contact CTS to find the member a ride to their appointment. It is important to tell the insurance company if you would like to ride with Tri-County Transit. The broker will contact Tri-County Transit to arrange for a ride. One of our volunteers or staff drivers will pick you up and take you to your appointment and then provide the return trip.

All Tri-County Transit driver’s have their driving record, national criminal record checks, and are registered with the DHHS Bureau of Elderly and Adult services completed before hire. Drivers are also certified in Passenger Assistance, Wheelchair Securement, Defensive Driving, Customer Service, and Emergency Evacuation trainings and recertified every three years.

For more information on Medicaid rides to appointments please contact the Transit office toll free at 1-888-997-2020 and a dispatcher will assist you with the procedure and insurance phone numbers. Staff of hospitals and medical centers feel free to contact our office if you need information about Medicaid transportation or would like a TCT employee to attend a meeting to explain how the Medicaid transportation services works and what we offer.

Tri-County Transit formerly North Country Transit, Sr. Wheels, and Carroll County Transit are rebranding as Tri-County Transit.

Tri-County Transit is a Division of Tri-County Community Action Program, Inc. (a private non-profit providing opportunities and support for people to learn and grow in self-sufficiency)
