DISPATCHER

The Dispatcher will work with other dispatchers and drivers to schedule and provide services. He/She will assist the Operations Manager in other functions as mentioned in the detailed duties to ensure the system is operating safely and effectively.

 

Detailed duties may include

  1. Receiving phone calls from passengers for trip requests.
  2. Entering client/customer information in a computer database.
  3. Scheduling transportation services for passengers and assigning schedules and trips to drivers on a daily basis including.
  4. May need to check Medicaid passengers for active or inactive status.
  5. Coordinates routes and trips to minimize cost and maximize service.
  6. Assigns vehicles to drivers at the beginning of their shifts.
  7. Tracks location of drivers and vehicles at all times.
  8. Knowledgeable of all services Tri-County Transit provides. Must match appropriate service to passenger and inform driver of which service the passenger is being transported under, the amount of the fare or donation and any other necessary information about the passenger.
  9. Instructs drivers in operating procedures or schedule changes.
  10. Verifies daily manifests in dispatch software for accuracy.
  11. Checks voice mail and returns calls.
  12. Faxes or e-mails driver manifests to drivers for next day trips before leaving for the day.
  13. Receives report information from outside sites on a daily basis, either by phone or by computer.
  14. Provides referral services:
    a. To insure passengers are informed of other supportive services
    b. To agencies, doctors, businesses to meet passenger needs
  15. Responsible for training new dispatchers in the operation of Route Match Schedule Software.
  16. Helps Operations Manager find substitute driver in a drivers absence.
  17. Works with Operations Manager to provide a more efficient service and meet needs within Tri-County Transit’s service area for long distance and local service.

 

OTHER DUTIES

  1. Responsible for providing direction for post accident drug and alcohol procedures as necessary, in the Operations Manager’s and Transportation Director’s absence.
  2. Attends drivers meetings, training sessions, and workshops as recommended by the Transportation Director.
  3. Any additional duties deemed necessary by supervisor.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Reports directly to Operations Manager.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires eye-hand coordination, manual, and mental dexterity. Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols. Requires the use of office equipment such as; computer terminals, telephones, voice mail system, copier, answering machines and calculator. May require lifting up to 50-60 pounds.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an office setting. with contact from other staff, clients and customers. This is a “Safety Sensitive” position and requires Drug & Alcohol testing.

 

DRESS CODE

Attire is business casual with name-tags worn when dealing with the public.


WORKING HOURS

May vary, long distance and overnight trips may be scheduled. Must also be available to attend mandatory meetings and trainings. Meetings and trainings might be scheduled at night or on weekends.


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. The ability to handle multiple tasks and interruptions.
  2. Must have numerical and organizational abilities.
  3. Must have some knowledge of computers.
  4. Able to deal effectively with people/clients/customers and diffuse conflict.
  5. Interpersonal abilities using tact, patience and courtesy.
  6. Must be able to maintain confidentiality concerning client and coworker situations.
  7. Knowledge of geographic areas being served.
  8. Driving and Criminal Records must be acceptable to Director, Operations Manager, and Tri-County CAP., Inc. insurance company.
  9. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  10. Valid NH driver’s license preferred.
