kids ride for 25¢ all summer

Beginning in June, Tri-County Transit will roll out a special 25¢ fare for all children who ride between June 1st and August 31st.

The new summer fare applies to children ages 0-18, accompanying adults are required to pay the full flex route day pass price. The discounted fare provides immediate savings and helps keep more money in the family’s pocket for when they arrive to their destination.

Mobility Manager Stephanie Poisson said the new summer fare is a great way for children, teenagers and families to find a safe and affordable way to get around town. "We previously offered 25¢ summer fares for only students ages 12-18, but we hope by extending the 25¢ fares to include all children we will greatly benefit local families.” Poisson said.

For years, Tri-County Transit has offered summer youth passes to only students, but this new approach to offering rides for a quarter is an attempt to help all children and families become acclimated with utilizing and navigating public transportation.

“Having a fun summer outing can really add up when you pay full price for each child to travel. But this summer, a mother and three children, for instance, can ride the Berlin/Gorham Flex for $2.75, instead of $8! We hope that it will help alleviate some financial stress so families can focus more on making fun summer memories.” Poisson said.
